My Story
I first received acupuncture after pulling a muscle in my back but had been reluctant to try it because of my fear of needles. My first treatment surprised me. I didn’t even feel the needles and was amazed at how quickly my back recovered.

My interest in acupuncture and healing was wetted. Tai Sophia Institute’s philosophy of wellness and its nature based five-element acupuncture program are what drew me to become a student and patient there. After my intake exam, I was amazed at how many symptoms, my body’s wisdom teachers, I had been ignoring.

After a year of treatment not only had my symptoms practically vanished but I realized that I had been living with a tremendous amount of anxiety for most of my adult life. Receiving treatment was like cleaning off a dirty windshield I had no idea was filthy! From that new perspective I was better able to notice if my windshield was getting dirty and listen to my body’s messages.

In 2010 after graduating from TAI, I became a parent and experienced the benefits of acupuncture and herbal medicine to increase fertility, ensure a healthy pregnancy, induce labor and help with postpartum recovery including depression and low-breast milk supply.

I experienced such tremendous help from Chinese medicine that I began to develop an interest in specializing in fertility and women’s health and continue to increase my knowledge in these areas.

Through my apprenticeship with Marty Perkins I learned how to integrate Mayan Abdominal Massage and breathwork with acupuncture to treat digestive disorders, asthma, infertility and other gynecological issues.

In addition to acupuncture my other passions involve the great outdoors, cooking, traveling the world, sustainable living and spending time with my friends and family.

I am a fifty six year old man, father of two college age young men and a criminal defense attorney. I came to Rachel Nevas for my first experience in acupuncture. My goal was to explore a treatment plan that could reduce the stress I built up cumulatively that in turn reduced my quality of life through anxious overeating....
